Having spent a great night at the Latino Steakhouse at the Sheraton on NYE we decided to head to the Sheraton on Friday night with friends to check out the Irish Harp. As I understand it if you have residency in Qatar you need to become a member – women 50QR, men 100QR – this gives you access to happy hours and other promotions. If you are a visitor you can just show your passport and you don’t pay an entry fee. Once inside I was impressed at how spacious it was. There’s a large bar area with stools, then a variety of tables and booths. We grabbed a booth and took advantage of the half priced drinks as it was happy hour 5-8pm although frustrating soft drinks were still full price (I’m attempting dry January!) Although it was fairly quiet when we arrived about 7pm it soon filled up and there was a good atmosphere
We ordered food from what I’d consider a ‘pub grub’ menu. I opted for veal sausages with mash and onion gravy, Greg chose a burger. The food arrived quickly and was really hot and fresh. My sausage and mash were delicious and it was a really big portion consisting of 7 sausages and a mound of mash. It enjoyed it but unfortunately the onions were very, very salty so I left them. Greg said his burger was fantastic.
Just after 9pm the band started to play. They covered classic rock / pop songs and soon quite a lot of people (mainly post Friday brunchers!) were up dancing. However, as we were quite close to the stage we couldn’t hear anyone speak so maybe we’d sit further away next time!
It was a very enjoyable night, the food overall was pretty good, the service was very attentive and there was a great atmosphere especially with the live music. We will definitely return and now we have our membership cards we can take advantage of the various offers. I’d also recommend Latino Steakhouse too.
