My first monthly roundup, hopefully it will give you some new places to visit in Shenzhen.
Pizza Marzano, Luohu
Basically Pizza Express in Shenzhen. It is a great source of familiarity and predictability. The service is good and the food is tasty. They also have some great lunch and dinner offers. Worth checking out if you’re in Luohu.

Hilton, Shekou
We stayed here for the weekend at the start of September. It’s our third visit to this hotel, I love that it’s only 30 min from our home but it feels like a proper weekend away. The hotel is really nice and its in a great location. I intend to write a full blog post about our stays there.

George and Dragon, Seaworld
Whenever we are in Seaworld we call in here for a gin or two. Last year there was a ‘Giniversity’ evening held here which was fun and interesting. I really like their gin menu and sometimes we may also end up with a portion of deliciously bad chicken in a basket!

Salt & Talk, Seaworld
Obviously a trip to Seaworld is not complete until I have had a milkshake here. For me it is one of the best places to eat in the city – consistently good food and service and a constantly evolving menu.

Turqoise, Seaworld
I love to come here to get my mezze and kebab fix, Greg comes here for the shisha! Get here early, the small outside terrace gets busy.

I See Vegan Life, Nanhan
I have written a full blog post about this plant based restaurant here, but if you missed it I very much recommend a visit. The burgers and fresh juices are delicious, top marks if you can find this cute cafe without following my directions!!

Weekend Brunch, Langham
Again. I have already published a full post here about this informal, tasty brunch with a good seafood selection and yummy desserts.

Jiangye Dining Hall, Chegongmiao
This little Japanese restaurant tucked away on the 17th floor of a residential block by exit C of the metro stop is well worth a visit. It has a very cute interior and delicious food. My top picks would be the eel fried rice, shrimp tempura and okonomiyaki .

Wing Lab Bar, Chegongmiao
In the block next to the Japanese restaurant you’ll find this cool bar. If you love gin and whisky you are in for a treat. Also make sure you check out the bottle bath!

Wagas, Q Plex
Meh, maybe we just ate there too much when we lived close by but our recent visit left us flat. My smoked salmon with eggs with avocado on sourdough was ok, but Greg’s scrambled egg with mushroom was stone cold and the chai latte was just weird.

1886, Holiday Plaza
This German themed bar and restaurant was ok, I wouldn’t rush back. Our side dishes arrived well before the mains and we had to ask for our beer as it had been forgotten. The sichuan fries were good as was the halibut dish, but other than that it was nothing special.

Compass Cafe, Futian
This avocado toast was pretty good although I’d ordered a smaller main because I really wanted the lemon cake for dessert. First my order was incorrect because I was brought a stack of lemon pancakes then, after a long discussion, I was told the cake wasn’t available……

Ritz Carlton, Guangzhou
I needed to go to Guangzhou to renew my passport so we decided to stay overnight. In March we had an amazing stay at the Ritz so booked it again. We weren’t as blown away by the service this time but it’s still a very nice hotel in an excellent location.

Hope that round up has given you some ideas of places to eat / stay. I’m off to spend Golden Week at the beach, have a great holiday!! Thanks for reading
