Crossroads Kitchen, Marriot Marquis, West Bay

We were going out with friends and their teenage daughter so wanted to eat somewhere that suited everyone. Crossroads is just over the road from where we live so we arranged to go to the Thursday evening seafood buffet. The restaurant is situated on the third floor, the restaurant itself is quite big but very well laid out. Before we took our seats we were shown some of the dishes that were on offer and the variety of drinks packages (245QR for soft drinks, 295QR with wine / beer) were explained to us.

The quality and variety of food was very good. There was an excellent selection of sushi, fresh fish which was cooked to order, meat dishes, salads and breads. There were also live cooking stations which allowed you to select your own ingredients to make Thai curry. There was a wide choice of desserts from cheeses, cakes, tarts, pastries, chocolate fountain, ice creams or freshly cooked churros.

My only criticism was that service throughout the evening was poor and this was because of understaffing, there were only 3 staff looking after our area and as there was a group of 25+ on one table and several other large tables we were just not a priority. Our table was not cleared, cutlery wasn’t replenished and on several occasions we had to find someone to clear away our plates. This poor service also meant that our drinks weren’t topped up as frequently as we would have liked!
Overall the food was very good and despite the poor service we would go back. You can use an entertainer voucher here but not on a Thursday evening
